Free support to provide and promote healthy foods and drinks in your school

Your school can make a big difference when it comes to creating a healthy eating environment. When children and young people eat well they learn better, are more alert and are more likely to grow and develop to their full potential. Fuelling children with the appropriate foods also plays an important role in the mood and mental health of children.

If you’re here for the first time or still on your journey to improving your healthy eating environment...

We strongly encourage you to register for Vic Kids Eat Well - an exciting new incentivised initiative available to support your school in providing healthier food drinks to the children in your care. Vic Kids Eat Well focuses on four key actions and provides clear, simple and achievable steps to making healthy food and drink options available for your kids.  Vic Kids Eat Well is supported by the Victorian Government, and is delivered by Nutrition Australia and the Healthy Eating Advisory Service in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria’s Achievement Program. For schools already working with us to provide and promote healthier food and drinks as per the ‘School Canteens and Other School Food Services Policy’ you can access our many resources to help you to:

  • develop healthy eating policies for long-term success
  • learn about healthier food and drink options
  • discover healthier canteen recipes
  • work effectively with food service staff and committees.

We continually update our resources so please check back regularly for new information about healthy eating. And, don’t forget to refer this website to anyone else in your school that may be interested.
