Catering for Good Directory

The Catering for Good Directory helps Victorian workplaces access healthier, more sustainable catering while highlighting certified social enterprises and Victorian Aboriginal businesses. It was developed in response to the Victorian Government’s Good Food Policy to support healthier and more sustainable choices. By more businesses ordering healthier and more sustainable catering, the Directory helps create a shift in purchasing power across Victoria.

“It’s about culture, sustainability, and the difference you can make in your community and broader.”

– Andie Sfyris, Project Officer at Healthy Eating Advisory Service

By joining the Directory, businesses like FoodWithATwist gain exposure and visibility, tailored guidance and new opportunities to grow.

Celebrating cultural flavours with FoodWithATwist

FoodWithATwist is led by Neeti Saronja and her all-women team, whose catering business focuses on creatively presented dishes inspired by Indian culinary traditions. The menu includes sandwiches, wraps, and other items prepared with fresh, sustainable ingredients and unique flavour combinations that reflect Neet’s cultural roots while appealing to modern palates.

Supporting caterers

As part of expanding the Catering for Good Directory, Ruchita Bhansali, Health Promotion Officer at IPC Health, was searching for a new caterer to support workplaces in Wyndham. The area is one of Victoria’s most culturally diverse communities, where 49.8% of residents speak a language other than English at home. [1]

“I wanted someone who was rooted in this cultural aspect… who could deliver affordable… culturally relevant food.”

FoodWithATwist stood out immediately to Ruchita.

Recognising the potential of Neeti’s business, Ruchita took a hands-on approach, guiding her through every step of the Catering for Good application process including how to use FoodChecker, a tool for assessing menus. She also worked strategically to strengthen Neeti’s visibility in the Wyndham community, helping the business connect with local organisations, councils and potential clients.

“My number one goal was to make Neeti from invisible to visible in the Wyndham area.”

Ruchita and other Health Promotion Officers play a significant role in supporting caterers by providing practical guidance, building confidence and connecting them with local organisations and opportunities.

Opening doors to new opportunities

Joining the Catering for Good Directory was a turning point for Neeti.

Before the directory, I had amazing ideas, but I didn’t know how to reach bigger clients.”

Soon after joining, FoodWithATwist secured its first major contract with Wyndham City Council. Neeti developed menus celebrating cultural diversity while ensuring options were nutritious.

Building on this success, Neeti led a Health & Wellness Workshop at Stockland Point Cook. The session featured traditional Indian recipes with a modern twist and highlighted her catering expertise as well as commitment to community wellbeing.

“[We used] more natural ingredients, showing people including kids how healthy cooking can be fun.”

The success of both the Wyndham City Council contract and the cooking workshop opened doors to further opportunities, allowing Neeti to cater large events and experiment with creative menus.

“Every new opportunity feels like a chance to grow. I’ve been able to deliver larger events, experiment with creative menus, and collaborate with other local businesses. It’s opened doors I never imagined.”

Joining the Directory

FoodWithATwist shows how the Catering for Good Directory connects workplaces with healthier, more sustainable catering. With Ruchita’s support, Neeti and her team have reached new clients and grown their business.

If you’re a caterer looking to grow your business, provide healthier, more sustainable catering, and make your mark in Victorian workplaces, the Directory can open doors for you too.

“Joining the Directory is a real opportunity, not just a listing. It helps caterers learn, showcase their skills and make a measurable difference in the community.”
