Collaborating for change
We know that through collaboration we can increase our impact and reach, ensuring that all Victorians have access to healthier food and drinks. Together, we can make healthy eating easy, accessible, and the norm across our communities.
We work with like-minded organisations to progress healthy eating initiatives and systems change. These include:
An exciting new state-wide movement that’s focused on transforming the food and drink environments in schools and other community organisations where kids spend their time. Vic Kids Eat Well is supported by the Victorian Government and is delivered by Cancer Council Victoria in partnership with National Nutrition Foundation.
To support organisations to meet the healthy eating benchmarks using a whole of organisation approach.
The purpose of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation is to introduce pleasurable food education to children during their learning years, in order to form positive food habits for life.
A partnership led by Deakin University promoting Community Health and Nutrition, and Government Engagement by supporting Victorian local governments to shift towards healthier food offerings in their facility food outlets including sports and recreation centres, sporting clubs, libraries, community centres, and arts centres.
Funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council is supporting a world-first randomised controlled trial to test the most effective and value-for-money ways of supporting local governments and facilities.
To embed healthier food and drink requirements in catering procurement for health services.
To support health services to provide healthier food and drink options.
Collaboration with a multi sector collective to lead development of the Healthy retail toolkit for retailers.
To collaborate nationally on best practice food provision in Early Childhood Education and Care settings.
To develop Healthy Eating in the National Quality Standard – A guide for early childhood education and care services, which assists early childhood services to meet the healthy eating requirements of the National Quality Standard, and relevant National Regulations.
To collaborate nationally on best practice for healthy and sustainable school canteens.
To reduce or remove sugar sweetened beverages in council-funded sport and recreation facilities.
